Job Description

Ziva’s Café & Restaurant is seeking for full time cook. The ideal candidates will have a minimum one year experience working in a commercial kitchen.

Tasks & Duties

-Cooking and food preparation
-Undertake preparation of all ingredients according to their characteristics on the menu including, cutting, slicing, dicing and marinating.
-Utilize different cooking techniques depending on which menu item is being prepared.
-Ensure adequate and hygienic food storage techniques are adhered to such as, labeling of containers, regulating refrigeration temperatures, storing food in temperature controlled facilities etc.
-Estimate food requirements.
-Collaborate with other kitchen staff with a view to increasing in-house knowledge of culinary techniques and cooking styles

Requirements

Minimum Qualification/ Experience: Certificate III or IV in Commercial cooking

Minimum one year experience in a commercial kitchen.

Duties include: Examining food stuff to ensure quality. Operating and regulating temperatures of all cooking equipment including ovens and grills. Preparing sauces, stock ,gravies and cooking food Seasoning food during cooking Portioning, food placing on plates and adding gravies, sauces and garnishes. Storing food in temperature controlled facilities. Assisting in planning menus and estimates food requirements.
