Purpose of Position Dental officers Level 1 year 1 to 4 serve as practicing dentists who perform routine dental work requiring independent examination, investigation, treatment planning and treatment of patients. The role is suitable for the new graduates as well as moderately experienced dentists, who are competent in basic tasks. They may require regular professional support and mentoring. This is a clinical position requiring a full clinical load. Corporate management functions are the responsibility of the Service Manager. We are seeking a suitably experienced Dental Officer to join our large Oral Health Team on the Central Coast of NSW.
If you are an enthusiastic and motivated dentist with a high level of knowledge, experience and clinical competency across the scope of general dentistry in a complex clinical setting this is an opportunity for you. This is a clinical position with a full clinical load. There is no managerial or academic time allowance.

Positions available:
– Dental Officer Level 1 or 2, permanent full time
– Dental Officer Level 1 or 2, temporary full time (up to 12 months)

Level 1 Dental Officer:
Level 1 position applicants (from 1 to 4 years of full-time professional experience) must be able to perform examinations, investigations and basic treatment of commonly encountered dental diseases or dental health problems requiring standard corrective, restorative, surgical or preventive measures. Level 1 dental officers work in community or hospital clinics under the general oversight and mentorship of a more experienced dentist.’

Level 2 Dental Officer:
Level 2 position applicants must demonstrate the capacity to perform the full range of professional dental tasks usual to general dentistry while regularly encountering, diagnosing, and treating dental diseases and dental health problems of greater-than-usual difficulty. Level 2 dental officers are expected to exercise independent professional judgement on routine matters but they may require professional supervision from more senior staff members when performing novel, complex or critical tasks.

This position qualifies for the Dental Officer Rural Incentive Scheme Allowance (up to $20Kp.a) on top of Award Salary.

Dental Officer Level 1 Selection Criteria:
1. Registered and / or able to be registered with the Dental Board of Australia as a dentist.

7. Current Class C driver licence.

Dental Officer Level 2 Selection Criteria:
1. Registered and / or able to be registered with the Dental Board of Australia as a dentist.
2. A minimum of two years (full time equivalent) clinical experience as a dentist in Australia or in a mutually recognised jurisdiction (UK, NZ and Éire) encompassing all areas of general dentistry and having successfully completed the standard Dental Officers Skills Assessment set by the NSW Centre for Oral Health Strategy; or its equivalent.
3. Demonstrated high levels of knowledge and clinical expertise across all areas of general dentistry.
4. Proven record of exercising independent professional judgement on routine matters of general dentistry.
5. Demonstrated ability for identifying opportunities for improvement in clinical practice, develop and lead ongoing quality improvement activities with other staff.
6. Proven record of providing clinical supervision and support to junior dental officers, technical and support staff with ability to work as a member of a multidisciplinary clinical team;
7. Current Class C driver licence.
8. Demonstrated commitment to Caring for the Coast vision, goals and strategies, with demonstrated behaviours which align to the NSW CORE values and CCLHD Values and Behaviours charter.
