Job Description

The role

Provide direct care and support to individuals with physical and/or intellectual disabilities in a group home, respite centre and/or community setting
Provide direct high levels of Medical Care and behaviour support
Provide assistance with a range of activities including daily living, community participation, personal care and improved living skills

Essential/Minimum Requirements:

  • Minimum 12 months’ paid experience as a Disability Support Worker
  • Certificate IV in Community Services or Individual Support – Disabilities (or equivalent/higher)
  • Experience working with challenging behaviours and understanding a Behaviour Support Plan
  • Willingness to work across a rotating roster 24×7 including Active Night Shifts
  • Willingness to work across the Gosford local area
  • Hold a current First Aid Certificate (or willing to obtain one prior to commencement)
  • Hold a current Working with Children Check (or willing to obtain one prior to commencement)
  • Hold a current National Police Check, no more than 6 months’ old (or willing to obtain one prior to commencement)
  • Hold a current Driver’s License

Selection Criteria

  • Describe in detail, your skills and experience supporting and caring for adults and children with disabilities and/or Mental Health.
    Provide clear examples of how you support clients with challenging behaviours and/or complex medical needs and/or mental health.
  • Describe how you would establish professional working relationships with clients.
    Give examples of how you use a person-centred approach that is supportive, encouraging and delivers positive outcomes.
  • Demonstrate your ability to understand and deliver supports within the guidelines of an individuals’ Support Plan (e.g. behaviour support plan, medical plan, personal support plan)
  • Demonstrate your ability to work autonomously and with limited supervision, within the guidelines of Government legislation, company policies and procedures
  • Provide an example of a time you have gone above and beyond your role to provide support to a client which enhanced their quality of life/experience.
