The Core Systems Consolidation Portfolio comprises of a number of Projects within our clients IM&T program. The Portfolio consists of 12 projects that will implement the new consolidated core systems.

The GIS Data Analyst is responsible for consolidating multiple layers of GIS dataset which may include various utilities, roads and drainage, parks and open spaces or other departmental data as assigned. The Data Analyst will also be required to support the organisational change process to ensure engagement and the overall transition to Business-as-usual in support of Information Management solutions across the organisation. The GIS Data Analyst leads the review, analysis and consolidation of the organisation’s GIS dataset using ESRI ArcGIS mapping tools and underlying SQL Server Database.


Responsibilities will include but may not be limited to the following:

Works closely with GIS Business Analyst and contributes to the design and development of new GIS database which is based on ESRI ArcGIS SDE and Microsoft SQL Server.
Lead the effort in Extract, Transform and Load (ETL) functions to help the organisation consolidate geospatial data (map layers, web services, rater and image files) from existing maps and various ancillary sources.
Complete data analysis and evaluation, geospatial data reformat and conversion.
Work on GIS data from various sources, converts GIS data from one coordinate system to another, creates other data formats from existing data, and scans, rectifies, and utilises images to validate datasets.
Assist in the planning for GIS projects, including development of the project scope, task organization, estimates of effort and other required resources, and schedules necessary to complete the project.
Support business analysts, SMEs and project team in the identification of business change impacts and mitigating actions.
Work with GIS Business Analyst and SMEs to ensure alignment between business requirements, communication collateral, user acceptance testing and training plans.
Provide input to and assist in activities related to testing, training, business readiness and post implementation support.
Identify and analyse any gaps in data and articulate in simple language, the context to which subsequent data models are formed.
Key Requirements:

Essential Requirements:

Degree qualifications in Information Technology, GIS or related field OR demonstrated solid contemporary experience in a Data Analyst role, combined with ongoing professional development.
Multiple years of experience in working with ESRI SDE relational database and underlying SQL Server GIS data in a data analyst capacity including data loading, processing, publishing web service and testing.
Established analytical skills with a creative problem solving approach and the ability to be able to quickly see the big picture;
Strong relationship development skills and ability to build a strong, collaborative relationship with the Program, Project and 3rd Party teams;
Demonstrated experience in applying proven written and verbal communication, analytical and problem-solving skills to ensure that deliverables meet specifications;
Proven ability to assess and interpret information to formulate recommendations and provide specialist advice to enable the organisation to achieve quality outcomes.
Desirable Requirements:

Formal Data Analyst Qualifications or Certifications.
Past experience in data migration in SQL Server.
