Job Description

Central Coast Local Health District require a “Registered Midwife – Midwifery Group Practice” in Gosford NSW:

To provide midwifery continuity of care model of care, for women of normal risk at entry and throughout the continuum and ongoing support for women if risks develop after 36 weeks gestation in pregnancy. Women who develop risk as per ACM guidelines prior to 36 weeks gestation will exit the program.

The midwife will work in partnership with the woman/family to provide woman centred, timely, evidenced based midwifery care in line with CCLHD policies and procedures, in a supportive environment. The midwife will consult and liaise with medical and allied health clinicians as per the ACM National Midwifery Guidelines for Consultation and referral (PD2010_022) guidelines when deviations from the norm are identified.

This ATR may be used to fill future positions via an eligibility list for permanent, part time, temporary and casual positions

Midwifery Group Practice at Gosford are looking for dynamic, interested midwives to join their team. Midwifery Group Practice Midwives work within a caseload model incorporating 24 hour on call as per roster agreement.

The MGP midwife will work in partnership with the woman her family and provide effective women centred, evidence-based midwifery led care in a supportive environment. The midwife consults/liaises and refers to obstetric, medical and other staff where deviation from normal midwifery care is identified.

Selection Criteria
Current unrestricted Registration as a Registered Midwife (List A) with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulatory Agency (AHPRA).

Demonstrates competency and proficiency as a midwife in antenatal, labour, birth and postnatal care, lactation and infant feeding consistent with the Australian Nursing and Midwifery Council National Competency Standards for the Midwife (2006).

Demonstrates an understanding of clinical governance, high level of accountability and the ability to reflect on own clinical practice.

Holds current accreditation to perform perineal repair, venipuncture, intravenous cannulation or working towards same in agreed time frames.

High level of clinical management skills involving effective time management, negotiation, prioritizing and delegation in a changing work environment.

Demonstrates ability to work effectively within a multi-disciplinary team, develop/maintain professional relationships; consistent adherence to ACM National Midwifery Guidelines for Consultation and Referral (2008).

Demonstrated commitment to the Caring for the Coast vision, goals and strategies, with demonstrated values which align with the NSW Health CORE values and CCLHD values and behaviours charter.

Current unrestricted NSW Driver’s Licence.
