Job Description

Central Coast Local Health District require a “Registered Nurse Acute Care Team” in Gosford NSW:

The Registered Nurse (RN) for the Acute Care Team (ACT) provides expert advice to patients, conducts clinical mental health assessments, provides consultation to carers and other health professionals within the defined specialty area. This position will provide case management and crisis intervention to the Central Coast community.

The RN ACT will promote a client centred, family friendly / carer supportive approach in working with clients with mental health related illnesses / disorders.

The Acute Care Team (ACT) nurse accepts and triages referrals received from community mental health services, GP’s, NGO’s and the Mental Health Telephone Access Line (MHTAL).

The Registered Nurse (ACT) will have achieved relevant training and education to be able to provide mental health clinical expertise and nursing knowledge. The RN will practice in a safe manner and provide high quality care to consumers. In addition the RN will have proven communication and interpersonal skills and be able to maintain high standards of knowledge and skills by participating in ongoing education.

The RN (ACT) may be required to support other teams as required. The RN ACT will work a rotating roster.

Selection Criteria
1. Current registration as Registered Nurse (Division 1) with AHPRA.

2. Demonstrated experience in mental health clinical assessment skills and acute/crisis interventions.

3. Demonstrated high level of communication, negotiation and interpersonal skills.

4. Post Graduate qualifications in mental health or related courses or working towards same or relevant mental health experience.

5. Experience across a range of mental health settings.

6. Demonstraed computer literacy.

7. Current NSW drivers licence.
