Job Description

Hasegawa & Ye International runs restaurants specialized in Japanese cuisine and operates sushi train restaurant and other Japanese food outlets in New South Wales. Our aim is to deliver quality Japanese Cuisine to Australia.

We are looking for a Restaurant Manager to lead all aspects of our business. You will deliver a high-quality menu and motivate our staff to provide excellent customer service.

To be successful in this role, you’ll need management skills and experience in both front and back of the house. We want you to know how to oversee the dining room, check-in with customers and balance seating capacity. Back of the house management experience is also essential, as you’ll hire qualified Cooks and Wait Staff’s, set work schedules, oversee food prep and make sure we comply with health and safety restaurant regulations.

We’ll expect you to lead by example and uplift our staff during busy moments in our fast-paced environment. Ultimately, you will ensure our restaurant runs smoothly and customers have pleasant dining experiences.

We will also provide to the right candidate with full training, an opportunity for bonus and further career development.

Your duties will include but not limited to:

  • Controlling the overall running of the restaurant;
  • Checking the quality and the portion of each serving;
  • Working with the chefs to select recipes and create new menus for the restaurant;
  • Organizing and planning special functions;
  • Purchasing and pricing goods and services according to the restaurant’s budgets;
  • Organizing and maintaining stocks, expenses and salaries;
  • Adhering to health/food and hygiene regulations;
  • Ensuring the kitchen and dining facilities comply with health regulations and are clean, function and of suitable appearance matching business brand image;
  • Conducting consultation with customer (assessment of their satisfaction with the meals and services of the restaurant on a daily basis;
  • Hiring, training and supervising waiting and Kitchen staff;
  • Organizing and taking reservations, greet guests and assist in taking orders.

To be successful, the candidates must have:

  • Excellent customer service skills;
  • Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills;
  • Ability to work under pressure with a strong multi-task ability and great attention to details;
  • Strong reporting skills, including both written and oral;
  • Strong work ethics and high standard.

The applicant must demonstrate management skills and experience although experience in Japanese cuisine is not compulsory as full training will be provided to the right person. The applicant must show enthusiasm and passion in the food industry. The applicant is expected to have obtained a bachelor degree or above in business/commerce and can demonstrate Competent English ability, and a second Asian language in Japanese or Chinese will be an advantage given the communication with the suppliers, directors and other staff. We also require a long-term work commitment form the applicant.
