Purpose of Position The Paediatric Endocrinology Staff Specialist provides outpatient specialist care to children and adolescents in Central Coast Local Health District. The Staff Specialist will function as a member of the multidisciplinary team and supervise and teach junior medical staff, medical students, nursing and Allied Health professionals attached to the department for Paediatrics and Endocrinology. This role will also to engage in ongoing quality assurance activities both at the Departmental and District Level and additionally as directed by the Executive Director of Medical Services. Though the position is based at Gosford Hospital clinicians are reminded that all clinicians are employed on a district basis, with obligations of coverage and consultation that encompass the District. Variation in service may occur and be discussed with annual review, subject to process articulated within the Staff Specialist (State) Award.

Central Coast is comprised of the twin areas of Gosford and Wyong, positioned between Sydney and Newcastle, which are collectively expected to grow from the current approximate 300,000 to
450,000 population before 2030. The Local Health District has strong connections with both Royal North Shore Hospital and the University of Newcastle.

Salary and conditions are in accordance with the Staff Specialist (Public Hospitals) Award.

Selection Criteria • Medical Practitioner registered or able to be registered in Australia, inclusive of an unrestricted or 19AB exempted provider number.

• Recognised specialist qualifications, Fellow of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians and / or other equivalent specialist recognition.

• Appropriate experience to practice as a Senior Medical Practitioner in Paediatric Endocrinology.

• Ability to work constructively and effectively in a Multidisciplinary team environment, demonstrating excellent interpersonal and communications skills.

• Demonstrated commitment to teaching of trainees in Paediatric Endocrinology and other staff, and commitment to the development of the Centre as a Centre of Excellence in teaching and research.

• Demonstrated interest in quality improvement methodologies.
