About the role

The Administrative Officer will be a valued member of the Calvary Mater Newcastle Clinical Information Department (CID) Team, and required to provide efficient and effective clerical support services to the Hospital. The Administrative Officer will be expected to complete work accurately and within required timeframes, whilst maintaining confidentiality of all information. Processing of Emergency Department (ED), clinic and ward requests, reception duties, assembling discharged records, accurate tracking of medical record locations in the iPM system, and routine filing and culling form part of the role. The Administrative Officer will be required to follow predefined procedures for work, collect activity statistics and exercise practical judgement at all times.

What you bring
  • Clerical experience working in a hospital or health care setting
  • Clerical skills and experience in managing patient records with a high attention to detail
  • Proficient computer literacy with experience using email and database systems
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment and to process high workload
  • Knowledge of privacy and confidentiality requirements
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Basic knowledge of medical terminology
  • Commitment to the Mission, Vision and Values of Calvary with the ability and desire to uphold these principles

Desirable Skills:

  • Terminal digit filing knowledge and/or experience
  • iPM and/or ARIA systems experience
