About the role

Calvary is seeking a highly experienced and enthusiastic health professional to provide executive leadership at our Public Hospital located in Newcastle NSW. The CEO promotes an integrated approach to the management and performance of the Calvary Mater Newcastle (CMN), actively contributes to the broader national network of Health care providers and takes responsibility for further developing the Service into a centre of excellence through appropriate leadership, sound financial management and the provision of effective health services.

In particular, the CEO will ensure that the operations of CMN occur in line with the organisational values of Hospitality, Healing, Stewardship and Respect.

This role will work in a collaborative and integrated way with the national organisation of Calvary and in particular its Hunter Manning region services to: -

provide effective leadership of the health care services associated with CMN, a major Affiliated Health Organisation (AHO) tertiary referral and district service center.

develop CMN to the highest level through identifying and pursuing strategic opportunities, being effective in operational and financial management, and developing and nurturing internal and external relationships.

present and conduct himself/herself as a community leader in line with the iconic status of CMN and it’s reputation in the Newcastle and Hunter communities.

Lead the operation of the health service involving management of in excess of 1,100 staff.

Manage the relationship between the Hunter New England Local Health District (HNE LHD), including the contract to provide public health services.

What you bring

Appropriate tertiary qualifications in areas such as business and/or health management

Exceptional leadership and operational management skills that drive progressive improvement.

High-level business development experience, including financial management business acumen.

A patient-centered approach to strategic planning and decision making.

Ability and desire to foster and improve professional relationships with internal and external stakeholders.

Knowledge of health care regulatory and industry standards, including accreditation processes.

A desire to join a team committed to the care of others in a mission based organisation.
