Job Description

Hunter New England Local Health District require a “Clinical Psychologist/Clinical Psychologist in Training” in New Lambton NSW:

Provide high quality, consumer-focussed, evidence-based psychological services to improve the mental health and psychosocial outcomes of people referred to the Child and Adolescent Mental Health Inpatient unit and their family and carers.

An exciting opportunity exists of a Clinical Psychologist or Clinical Psychologist in Training to join the Child and Adolescent Mental Health Inpatient Unit located at the John Hunter Hospital in Newcastle. The position is supported by a multidisciplinary team and requires someone who thrives working in a team environment. The successful candidate is will be someone who has a passion for working with young people and their families and carers and enhancing their systems of safety in the community. The position is supported by clinical supervision.

An eligibility list will be created for similar positions, both Permanent and Temporary, in the future.

Selection Criteria
Full registration and registered in accordance with the Psychologists Act 2001 with Masters degree or higher in Clinical Psychology or some other recognised clinical area in psychology that the employer deems relevant to the functions of the position or working towards same. Provisional registration would be considered if undertaking post-graduate studies in clinical psychology

Extensive effective experience in assessment, intervention and evaluation of clinical outcomes with diverse client populations

Demonstrated ability to work independently in the provision of client focused care

Demonstrated ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team to accomplish service goals and improved client care and outcomes

Demonstrated high level verbal and written communication skills with the ability to adapt communication style to suit the target audience

Extensive contemporary experience and knowledge of psychological practice in the areas of Child, Adolescent and Family clinical services

Demonstrated experience in the provision of supervision

This position requires a Working With Children Check (WWCC) issued by the Office of the Children’s Guardian.
