About us

The NSW Department of Family and Community Services (FACS) delivers vital programs and services designed to help vulnerable children, young people and their families.

The Joint Child Protection Response (JCPR) Program links the risk assessment and protective intervention of Family and Community Services (FACS) with the criminal investigation of NSW Police and the forensic medical, treatment and support services of NSW Health. The program delivers a multidisciplinary response to serious child abuse matters across NSW.

About the role

You will lead and supervise a team of caseworkers and work in collaboration with the NSW Police and NSW Health to provide services to vulnerable children, young people, and families.

You will ensure that your caseworkers fulfil the principles of the Joint Child Protection Response program for the safety, welfare and wellbeing of children and young people.

You will ensure that children and young people remain the focus of procedures and decisions and receive protective, therapeutic and other support services when they need them.

You will work collaboratively with your caseworkers to protect vulnerable children and young people from further trauma.

About you

To apply you must have:

• extensive experience in applying best practice casework with children, young people and their families
• experience leading and managing a team
• a degree in social work, social welfare or a related discipline
• a valid driver’s licence
• a Working with Children clearance number before starting in the role (to obtain further information on how to apply for a WWCC please click here)

You must submit a covering letter (2 pages maximum) and a resume. Your covering letter must address the focus capabilities for the role and outline your relevant skills and experience.

You must answer the following questions.

1. Please provide an example where you have led and managed cross functional and specialised teams to ensure FACS operates effectively and delivers quality child protection services to children, young people and families.

2. As a Casework Manager you will lead and manage a team of caseworkers who provide services to vulnerable children, young people and their families. Please describe how you have/would set performance expectations for a team and lead them to achieve these expectations.
A recruitment pool may be created to fill similar temporary opportunities if and as they arise.

In accordance with the Government Sector Employment Act 2013, your assessment may also include additional online capability testing, skills testing or work samples.

You will also be asked to complete a Health Declaration Form in later stages of the assessment process.
