The Manager Civil Maintenance responsible for the civil maintenance workforce, ensuring the safe, compliant, effective and efficient Service Delivery for Customers. The Civil Maintenance Group has a core internal workforce of around 75 employees, which is supplemented by contractors for peak workload management and some specialist services. With coverage of Hunter Waters network assets, primarily 10,000km of water and sewer mains, approximately 80 reservoirs and involvement with 3 dams and over 500 pumping stations this is a critical role and a key member of the Maintenance Delivery Leadership Team.

This role will be engaged as a five year fixed term contract with a salary package up to $145,000 commensurate with skills and experience. This position also has a tool of a trade vehicle assigned to it under Hunter Water’s Fleet Management standard.

To be considered for this role you will be able to demonstrate the following:

Essential

  • Tertiary qualifications in engineering, finance or other related disciplines and/ or substantial experience in the field of Civil Maintenance
  • More than five years’ experience in related role focused on ‘Maintenance Management and Leadership’ including proven capability to lead the implementation and optimisation of a productivity program.
  • Ability to effectively lead your team(s), contractors, and apply situational leadership across the organisation including the ability to lead a large team.
  • Build effective working relationships and influence a diverse range of stakeholders; with strong communication, negotiation and interpersonal skills (including business writing and presentation skills).
  • Work autonomously, identifying trends/issues and acting with initiative to deliver solutions and outcomes.
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively manage challenges and changing priorities whilst delivering to team and corporate deadlines.
  • Ability to perform duties in an Incident Manager Centre (or commitment to develop capability).
  • Possession of Class C Drivers Licence.

Desirable

  • Relevant Postgraduate Qualifications in Engineering, Management or Business Administration
  • Trade Certificate
  • Experience in the water industry and/or with a distributed network of assets and/ or knowledge of water and wastewater equipment, systems and processes.
  • Competencies and demonstrated experience in the use of any of the following: RAM (Reliability, Availability and Maintainability), Reliability Centred Maintenance, Total Quality Management, Intermediate Level Maintenance, Root Cause Analysis, Failure Mode Effects and Criticality Analysis, Six Sigma, Lean.
