As the Manager Electrical & Mechanical Maintenance (EMM) you will be primarily responsible for the electrical, mechanical and catchment management workforce, ensuring the provision of safe, compliant, effective and efficient service.

This is a critical role and a key member of the Maintenance Delivery Leadership team, to be successful in this role you will be able to demonstrate strong and effective leadership, driving a high performance work culture and exceptional customer service. You will be willing and able to champion and deliver productivity programs ensuring that the group is efficient and positively influencing and facilitating productivity in other Groups. You will also champion continuous improvement and a robust safety focussed culture.

This role is nominated as a lead ‘Operations Coordinator’ and as such will be required to perform incident and emergency management duties as required during business or after hours. All candidates must be willing and able to undertake duties in an after-hours roster or provide management coverage after hours, during weekends or public holidays or Hunter Water shutdown periods. This role will work from Hunter Water’s Tomago Depot and Head Office as well as any other work locations as required.

This role will be engaged as a five year fixed term contract with a salary package of up to $145,000 per annum commensurate with skills and experience. Also included is a tool of the trade vehicle assigned under Hunter Water’s Fleet Management Standard.

To be considered for this role you will be able to demonstrate the following:

Essential qualifications

  • Tertiary qualifications in Engineering, Finance or other related discipline OR substantial experience in the field of Electrical and/or Mechanical Maintenance
  • Class C Drivers licence

Essential work experience and skills

  • More than 5 years experience in Maintenance Management
  • Ability to effective lead teams including contractors and apply situation leadership across the organisation
  • Ability to build effective working relationships and influence a diverse range of stakeholders
  • Strong communication, negotiation and interpersonal skills (including business writing and presentation skills)
  • Demonstrated ability to work autonomously, identify trends/issues and act with initiative to deliver solutions and outcomes
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively manage challenges and changing priorities whilst delivering team and corporate deadlines
  • Ability to lead the implementation and optimisation of a productivity program
  • Ability to perform duties in an Incident Manager Centre (or commitment to develop capability)

The following skills and experience are not essential but will be highly regarded:

  • Relevant post graduate qualifications in Engineering, Management or Business Administration
  • Trade Certificate
  • Experience in the water industry and/or with a distributed network of assets
  • Knowledge of water and wastewater equipment, systems and processes
  • Competencies in RAM, RCM, TQM, ILM, RCA, FMECA, 6 Sigma or Lean
