About the role

Due to an increase in market demand for service technicians, we require a Mechanical Specialist based out of Mount Thorley to mentor and supply high level guidance for field and workshop activities, providing a single point of contact for field enquiries and issue resolution.

You will support WesTrac in developing our internal skill levels to position us to continue to provide our customers with highly skilled technicians. This will require you to develop strong and collaborative relationships with the OEM / Caterpillar in order to keep up-to-date with the latest equipment design and fully understand the technical details. You will utilise this knowledge to facilitate support, and develop and deliver training both internally and externally on customer sites (including underground).

The position will be an industry recognised expert providing extensive product and market knowledge support to stakeholders and assist in bringing new products to market.

Skills & Experience

  • Trade or engineering qualification with a minimum of 10 – 12 years post qualification experience;
  • Experience with Longwall equipment automated systems;
  • Excellent written, verbal and interpersonal communication with advanced computer literacy skills;
  • Excellent customer skills with the ability to build and maintain successful working connections;
  • Demonstrated analytical, problem solving and negotiation skills;
  • High attention to detail with the ability to apply critical thinking and identify continuous improvement opportunities;
  • Advanced time management, planning and organisational skills;
  • Knowledge and experience in utilising continuous improvement and lean principle methodologies;
  • Positive attitude towards gaining successful outcomes and working well in team environments
  • Financial/commercial knowledge and experience in SAP or similar software
