Job Description

NSW Health Pathology require a “Phlebotomist / Blood collector” in Hunter Valley NSW:

Provide excellent customer service. Perform Phlebotomy procedures in support of the divisions of Pathology North Hunter.

Permanant Part Time Position as a Phlebotomist within Pathology North Hunter region. A creation of an eligability list for future temporary/ permanent part time positions.

This is a Category A position. All Category A applicants must read and understand Policy Directive PD2011_005 Occupational assessment, screening and vaccination against specified diseases . All new recruits must agree to comply with the requirements outlined in this policy. New recruits must provide evidence against specified diseases and comply with the requirements of this policy at their own cost prior to appointment.

An eligibility list will be created for future permanent part time, temporary and casual vacancies.

To be eligible for permanent appointment to a position in NSW Health, you must have an Australian citizenship or permanent Australian residency.

Selection Criteria
Knowledge of pathology, laboratory and medical terminology

Demonstrated effective oral and written communication skills as well as, legible and neat handwriting and an ability to transcribe data accurately.

Demonstrated interpersonal skills with the demonstrated ability to work positively in a team environment.

Demonstrated ability to work with minimal supervision and prioritise a high volume workload.

Drivers Licence valid to drive in NSW and a willingness and capacity to work at any Pathology North collection room in the Hunter area.

Demonstrated ability to undertake and complete training and collection of Medico-Legal testing as per Standard AS4308 in accordance with accreditation requirements.

Completion of Certificate III in Pathology Collections or recent experience in a Pathology Collection Room setting.

A current First Aid Certificate and commitment to renew every 3 years.

This position requires a Working With Children Check (WWCC) issued by the Office of the Children’s Guardian.
