The Organisation

Our partner is a reputable services provider delivering specialised support services with a focus on innovation and best practice. They are committed to improving the lives of children, young people and their families/carers and are looking for an AHPRA accredited Clinical Psychologist to join their team.

The Role

This permanent full time opportunity is located in Newcastle, NSW and involves providing high quality service delivery to children and families of those with a disability using a person centred framework.

The primary objective of this role is to provide specialist psychological/intervention services to clients supported by the organisation in foster care, residential and disability programs as well as to staff, management, client’s families, carers and service systems that support them.

Key Responsibilities

Develop or plan preventative, developmental, remedial or other services in line with a positive psychological framework
Complete comprehensive psychological assessments for children and young people; overseeing complex cases, problem solving and presenting solutions in line with goals
Engage with a range of multidisciplinary services to promote a holistic and positive approach to client support
Complete detailed reporting on clinical and non-clinical planning, service delivery gaps and clinical needs that have not been met
Working with children, young people and their families and carers to bring about changes necessary to ensure the safety, stability and development of children
Provide supervision, direction and support on psychological intervention services to clients, their families and carers as well as staff.
Preparing documentation, presenting information and making recommendations on the individual development of children and young people with a disability
Work sensitively with the carers and families of clients adopting culturally and linguistically appropriate interventions
To Be Successful

Tertiary qualification in Psychology or in relevant field approved by AHPRA
AHPRA accreditation essential
Demonstrated necessary skills and experience to provide clinically based training to large groups
Demonstrated advanced understanding of child protection practice frameworks and models of best practice
Demonstrated knowledge of child development, attachment and trauma theories relating to child protection and person centred models of practice
Prior experience in behavioural and crisis intervention
Demonstrated ability to provide support and guidance for staff
Demonstrated competence in basic counselling skills and utilise them in therapeutic service delivery
Proven ability to work autonomously with minimal direction and instruction
Excellent written and verbal communication, presentation skills and self-management capabilities
Current NSW Driver licence
Current Working with Children Check or ability to obtain
