Job Description

Hunter New England Local Health District require a “Social Worker” in Maitland NSW:

Provide a high quality specialist Social Work service to children/young people of HNEMH Hunter Valley Child and Adolescent Service (CAMHS) based at Maitland to ensure the provision of optimal health outcomes.

An eligibility list will be created for similar positions, both Permanent and Temporary, in the future.

Selection Criteria
Must hold as a minimum a bachelor degree in social work which provides eligibility for membership of the Australian Association of Social Workers, or other qualification deemed equivalent by the employer and current drivers licence (NSW eligibility).

Significant experience and knowledge in working with children and or young people with mental health concerns and their parents/guardian and family.

Demonstrated understanding of the principles of trauma informed care and its application in working with children/young people and their families/carers.

Demonstrated high level verbal and written communication skills with the ability to adapt communication style to suit children/young people and their parents/guardians
and families.

Demonstrated ability to independently problem-solve and set priorities in complex situations.

Demonstrated application of professional and ethical boundaries when working with complex family situations as part of a multi-disciplinary team.

Evidence of ability to build and maintain cooperative professional and therapeutic relationships with key stakeholders, patients and their parents or guardians through the application of well-developed interpersonal and conflict resolution skills.

Demonstrated ability to apply and share professional expertise to immediate work and developments within CAMHS to enhance service delivery.

This position requires a Working With Children Check (WWCC) issued by the Office of the Children’s Guardian.
