The Role

We are seeking on behalf of our customer Therapeutic Specialists to work within a Child and Family Services program.  These positions are permanent full time located in the Newcastle region.

Working within the residential program, the main objective of this role is to facilitate therapeutically appropriate planning and services that include assessment, formulation and service coordination for children and young people.

Key Responsibilities

  • Facilitate Care Team meetings and coordinate the progression of the therapeutic aspects of case plans
  • Provide clinical expertise in therapeutic care
  • Drive therapeutic practice within and across services, ensuring application of the Ten Essential Elements of Therapeutic Care
  • Mentor and support the Care Team and facilitate reflective practice
  • Coordinate preventative strategies to mitigate placement breakdown
  • Contribute to the development of therapeutic and individualised developmental planning including Behaviour Support Plans, Case Management Plans, Transition and Exit Plans, health Plans etc
  • Respond to all daily documentation related to clinical services

To Be Successful

  • Tertiary Degree qualification in Psychology, Social Work, Occupational Therapy, Mental Health Nursing or related discipline such as social, health, behavioural science is essential
  • Current registration with an appropriate and relevant Registration Body essential
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in a therapeutic care setting or working in a clinical environment with children and young people in Out Of Home Care
  • Demonstrated knowledge of the issues, trends and evidence based principals underpinning the provision of services to vulnerable children and young people in OOHC
  • Demonstrated experience completing assessments, consultation and therapeutic interventions for a broad range of vulnerable children and young people
  • Demonstrated understanding of evidence based best practice principals and frameworks
  • Demonstrated experience developing and implementing behavioural intervention strategies, risk strategies and skills development planning
  • Highly developed report writing skills and effective communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Current Working with Children’s Check or ability to obtain
  • Current NSW Driver licence

Salary and Benefits

Salary is paid $90,000 – $100,000 dependant on skills and experience plus super and salary sacrifice.
